Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef (or buffalo)
  • 1/3 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 slice (1 ounce) whole wheat bread (or white bread broken into small pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worchestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon hamburger seasoning (or steak seasoning)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 onion (4 ounces) bread buns (split)
  • Lettuce leaves (4 bibb or boston leaves)
  • 1/3 cup salad dressing (thousand island)
  • Red onion (4 slices)
  • 1 large heirloom (10 ounce) tomato, sliced

How to Make

  • Step 1: Gently mix the first 9 ingredients (Ground beef to Pepper).

  • Step 2: Shape into 4 3/4" patties.

  • Step 3: Press patties into the flour to lightly coat both sides.

  • Step 4: In a large non-stick skillet cook burgers over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes each side, Internal temp should read 160f.

  • Step 5: Layer bun bottoms with lettuce, burger, salad dressing, onion & tomato slices.

  • Step 6: Replace bun tops.
