Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 sweet onion, diced
  • 1 package (16 ounce) coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage, cole slaw mix with carrots)
  • 1 cup salsa (fire roasted, chipolte)
  • 1 can (15 ounce) fire roasted tomatoes
  • Pepper, to taste
  • OPTIONAL
  • 1 pound carrots (baby)
  • 1 package (8 ounce) mushrooms, sliced
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Saute diced onion and ground beef (season liberally with black pepper to taste). Drain.

  • Step 2: Put ingredients into crockpot - in this order: cabbage mix package (or shredded cabbage), tomatoes, onion/beef mix, salsa. Add optional ingredients (more baby carrots, mushrooms). Stir. Cook on low for six hours. Check to make sure cabbage is done (taste it). If necessary cook longer until done (cabbage not crunchy).

  • Note: This is not a soup!! DO NOT ADD MORE LIQUID. The cabbage make plenty of liquid while cooking (along with the salsa and tomato liquids). It should not burn in a crockpot
