Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 500 grams ground beef (beef mince)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (fresh, soft)
  • 1 large egg (lightly whisked)
  • 1 yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped or grated
  • 1 ounce celery, chopped (1/2 celery stalk, finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • SUGGESTED FOR SERVING:-
  • Tomato sauce
  • BBQ sauce
  • Gravy
  • Onion gravy

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced.

  • Step 2: Line a 19cm x 9cm (base measurement) loaf pan with baking paper, extending paper at long sides for handles.

  • Step 3: Combine mince, breadcrumbs and egg in a large bowl.

  • Step 4: Process onion, carrot, celery and garlic in a food processor until finely chopped.

  • Step 5: Using hands squeeze excess liquid from vegetable mixture and then add to mince mixture, season and mix well.

  • Step 6: Place mixture in prepared pan, level surface and bake for 55 minutes or until cooked.

  • Step 7: Stand pan for 5 minutes, drain off excess liquid.

  • Step 8: Transfer to a chopping board and serve sliced with tomato sauce.
