Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/3 cup chili sauce (your sauce of choice - I used Thai sweet chili sauce for a little bite)
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs (dry)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (olive oil)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Liquid broth concentrate (one sleeve, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons beef broth (cold)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine the first 9 ingredients , using your hands mix well. Form mixture into 4 equal patties about one half inch thick.

  • Step 2: In a large frypan, heat olive oil over high heat; add burger patties brown on both side, about 5 minutes, reduce heat to medium, Cover and cook approximately 10 minutes or until no longer pink inside. Remove patties to a plate, cover with foil and keep hot. Return heat to high; add beef broth and liquid broth concentrate if using, whisk together picking up bits from frypan bottom, bring to boil, simmer 2 or 3 minutes. Meanwhile whisk together cold beef broth and cornstarch; add cornstarch mix to frypan, cook and stir until thickened.

  • Step 3: Return burger patties to frypan; spoon gravy over them and heat through, about 10 minutes. (if gravy thickens more than you want, add a little beef broth a little at a time as needed.
