Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR SEASONING BLEND
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • FOR CHILI
  • 1 pound ground beef (70/30)
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, diced
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 cans (15 ounces) kidney beans (drained - or as close as you can get)
  • 2 cups beef broth

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix together seasoning blend and set aside.

  • Step 2: In a larger skillet over medium heat,add beef,pork,onion,and garlic.

  • Step 3: When placing meat into skillet, break into smaller pieces and cook until it is no longer pink and onion and garlic are soft.

  • Step 4: Drain and add meat mixture to a slow cooker large enough to hold all ingredients.

  • Step 5: Next add tomato paste,tomato sauce,beef broth,and seasoning blend.

  • Step 6: Then mix until everything is well combined.

  • Step 7: If using the beans, add now and mix well.

  • Step 8: Cook on low for 5 hours and serve with your favorite chili toppings.
