Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup lentils (dry, green or French-they are small and brown)
  • 2 large yellow onions, chopped
  • 1 cup bulgar (dry)
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Transfer the lentils and water to the pot and cook until the lentils are soft, about 20 minutes.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile fry the onion separately, Stir occasionally and continue until the onion is golden brown.

  • Step 3: When the onion is ready (and also lentils), transfer it with the oil to the pot of lentils and water (do not pour off the water!).

  • Step 4: Add the bulgur and spices, stir and cook covered 10 minutes.

  • Step 5: Turn off the heat, cover the pan with a towel and let it stand so about 10 minutes before eating.
