The ingredients are:
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup minced onions
  • 2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup bulgur (coarse)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tsp grated orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

  • Step 2: Add celery, onions and garlic.

  • Step 3: Cook and stir until vegetables begin to soften, about 3 minutes.

  • Step 4: Add bulgur, cranberries, orange zest and five-spice powder.

  • Step 5: Cook and stir for 1 more minute.

  • Step 6: Add broth and salt.

  • Step 7: Bring to a boil.

  • Step 8: Reduce heat to low.

  • Step 9: Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until liquid has been absorbed and bulgur is tender.

  • Step 10: Remove from heat and let stand, covered for 5 minutes before serving.
