Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds pork loin chops (center-cut around 1-inch thick)
  • Garlic salt
  • Pepper
  • Cayenne pepper, to taste (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 medium green bell peppers (stemmed, cored, and seeds removed, cut into strips)
  • 1 medium yellow onion (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or stock)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Mashed potatoes (to serve with)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season the pork chops with garlic salt, pepper, and cayenne.

  • Step 2: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Step 3: Lightly coat the chops in flour, shake off any excess, and place them into the pan. Brown well, about 3 minutes per side Remove chops to a plate and set aside.

  • Step 4: In the same skillet add the green peppers and onions and saute until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant (about one minute).

  • Step 5: Add in 1 1/2 tablespoons flour; whisk for 1-2 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk until bubbly and thickened, around 2 minutes.

  • Step 6: Add chops back to the pan. Add salt and pepper to you own taste. Cover the skillet with a tight-fitting lid, and allow to simmer for around 40-45 minutes or until chops are tender.

  • Step 7: Serve with mashed potatoes
