Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (white)
  • 3 tablespoons orange zest
  • 2/3 cup orange juice (fresh, pulp free)
  • 1/3 cup water (boiling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 210 grams pitted dates, chopped (1 1/4 cups chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven 350F.

  • Step 2: Grease 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.

  • Step 3: Beat the egg slightly. Add butter and sugar, beat until smooth.

  • Step 4: Pour orange juice and zest into an 8 oz measuring cup..Add boiling water to the 1 cup mark (apprx 1/3 cup).

  • Step 5: Stir zest, juice and vanilla into the batter

  • Step 6: In another bowl place flour, baking powder, soda and salt..Add dates, mix.

  • Step 7: Pour flour into the batter..Mix gently just to moisten.

  • Step 8: Spoon into prepared loaf pan.

  • Step 9: Bake in 350f oven for appprx 1 hour or until a toothpick comes our clean.

  • Step 10: Cool 10 minutes.
