Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/3 cup beer (light beer)
  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce (hickory-flavoured barbecue sauce)
  • 1 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons Montreal steak spice
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary (crushed)
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef flank (trimmed of fat, 680g)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Whisk together all marinade ingredients in a medium bowl.

  • Step 2: Place flank steak in a large, heavy-duty, resealable plastic bag.

  • Step 3: Add marinade and seal bag.

  • Step 4: Turn bag several times to coat the steak with marinade.

  • Step 5: Marinate in refrigerator for at least 2 hours or as long as 24 hours.

  • Step 6: Preheat grill to high setting.

  • Step 7: Remove steak from bag and place on a grill rack that has been lightly brushed with oil.

  • Step 8: Grill for about 6 minutes per side, or to desired degree of doneness.

  • Step 9: Let steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  • Step 10: To serve, slice thinly across the grain using a very sharp knife.
