  • 4 ounces bacon slices (4 slices)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 300 grams ham (2 cups, diced)
  • 1 package (16 ounce) lentils
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large pot over medium heat fry the bacon until browned. Add the vegetables (onions - celery) and cook until onions are tender. Str in ham, lentils and spices (salt - bay leaves) and 8 cups of water. Cover, simmer over low heat for one hour or until lentils are tender. Discard bay leaves. add lemon juice and more salt if desired.
