Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR MEATBALLS
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup half and half cream
  • 3 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons grated onion
  • 3/4 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • FOR SWEET & SOUR SAUCE
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (with the soy sauce i would leave out)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread crumbs, water, and cream. Set the mixture aside.

  • Step 2: In a heavy skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the onion until transparent. Transfer the onion to a separate mixing bowl and add the ground beef and ground pork.

  • Step 3: Add the salt, sugar, pepper, and bread crumb mixture, blending well.

  • Step 4: Shape the meat into balls about 3/4 inch in diameter.

  • Step 5: In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

  • Step 6: Brown the meatballs, turning frequently to brown evenly. Reduce the heat and cover. Continue to cook for about 10 minutes, turning frequently.

  • Step 7: In a saucepan, blend together the remaining ingredients.

  • Step 8: Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly.

  • Step 9: Pour the sauce over the cooked meatballs.
