  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup grits (instant)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup diced American cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 clove garlic, mashed

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bring pan of salted water to a boil.

  • Step 2: Whisk in the grits.

  • Step 3: Cook for a few minutes until they start to thicken up.

  • Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in butter and cheese.

  • Step 5: In a measuring cup mix eggs and milk so that the volume is 1 cup.

  • Step 6: Add garlic here if adding

  • Step 7: Add to the grits mixture.

  • Step 8: Pour grits into a casserole dish and bake at 300 for an hour or until they brown a little on top and are thickened up.
