Step 1: Bring pan of salted water to a boil.
Step 2: Whisk in the grits.
Step 3: Cook for a few minutes until they start to thicken up.
Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in butter and cheese.
Step 5: In a measuring cup mix eggs and milk so that the volume is 1 cup.
Step 6: Add garlic here if adding
Step 7: Add to the grits mixture.
Step 8: Pour grits into a casserole dish and bake at 300 for an hour or until they brown a little on top and are thickened up.
