Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons jalapeños, minced (the original recipe says to keep the seeds in but we take the majority of them out)
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted and cooled)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Butter a 13x9x2 inch baking pan.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl whisk together the dry ingredients (flour - baking soda). Stir in the green onions and jalapeños.

  • Step 4: In another bowl whisk together buttermilk and eggs and then whisk in the melted butter.

  • Step 5: Add wet to dry and stir until blended.

  • Step 6: Transfer batter to prepared pan.

  • Step 7: Ake for 25-30 minutes or until cornbread is browned on top and cake tester (toothpick) comes out clean.

  • Step 8: Transfer to a rack and let cornbread cool completely in pan.
