We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine ingredients in a crockpot.

  • Step 2: Cook on high about 12-18 hours.

  • Step 3: Sometimes it takes longer, depending on thickness of the applesauce.

  • Step 4: Cook until it turns dark brown and thickens.

  • Step 5: Old time cooks recommend adding 2 Tablespoons of cider vinegar at the end of cooking (you can use lemon juice). I personally have never added vinegar, I felt the spices and red hots are a lovely blend just as the recipe calls.

  • Step 6: It can be stored in the refrigerator or canned in a water bath for 20 minutes.
