Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt (1 pinch)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup margarine (or 1/2 cup margarine & 1/2 cup shortening)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix the first three ingredients together in a sauce pan.

  • Step 2: Cook over Medium heat until thick (like a paste) stirring constantly.

  • Step 3: Remove from heat and cool completely.

  • Step 4: Cream sugar, shortening (margarine) and vanilla.

  • Step 5: Add cooled flour/milk mixture by the spoonful beating after each spoonful.

  • Step 8: Note: You need to cook the milk/flour mixture for at least 30+ minutes to get to the right consistency...once it cools it's like a paste...
