Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR CRUST
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine (softened, or 1/2 cup butter, softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • FOR FILLING
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds
  • 3/4 pound apples (2 large apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/4-inch slices)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 carton (8 ounce) yogurt (vanilla)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/4 cup apricot preserves (melted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 375°F.

  • Step 2: Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.

  • Step 3: In large bowl, combine flour, sugar and margarine; beat on low speed until well blended.

  • Step 4: Beat in 1 egg and 1/4 tsp almond extract to form crumbs.

  • Step 5: Press crumb mixture in bottom and 1 1/2 inches up sides of ungreased 9-inch spring form pan.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle with raisins and almonds.

  • Step 7: Arrange apple slices over raisins and almonds in desired pattern.

  • Step 8: In medium bowl, dissolve cornstarch in milk.

  • Step 9: Add lemon juice, vanilla, 1/4 tsp almond extract, yogurt and 1 beaten egg; blend well.

  • Step 10: Pour over apples.

  • Step 11: Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until apples are tender.

  • Step 12: Cool 30 minutes, remove sides of pan.

  • Step 13: Brush preserves over apples.

  • Step 14: Refrigerate any remaining tart.
