Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step 2: Grease a 9-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter.
Step 3: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar into buttered dish.
Step 4: Rub remaining butter onto cut sides of pear halves.
Step 5: Arrange pears into the prepared baking dish with the cut sides down.
Step 6: Sprinkle remaining sugar over the pears.
Step 7: (I would cover the pears with tin foil for 10 minutes so that pears soften)
Step 8: Stir cream and amaretto and cherry juice together in a bowl.
Step 9: Bake pears in preheated oven for 15 minutes.
Step 10: Pour cream mixture over the pears and continue baking until the pears are tender, about 15 minutes more. or until pears are soft and custard is firm
Step 11: Top with whipped cream and flaked almonds or pine nuts
