Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 medium carrot (grated)
  • 1 medium zucchini (grated)
  • 250 grams minced pork
  • 250 grams minced veal
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 3 sheets (737 grams) puff pastry
  • Capsicum pieces (small dice for eyes)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 200C (180C fan forced).

  • Step 2: Grease 2 flat baking trays.

  • Step 3: In a bowl, combine carrot, zucchini, minces, onion powder, garlic powder, curry powder and egg and mix till well combines and season with pepper.

  • Step 4: Divide into 6 portions, shaping each into a long sausage.

  • Step 5: Lay pastry sheets on a work surface and cut each in half and then lay one portion of mince mixture along the centre of each pastry piece and roll up in enclose the filling.

  • Step 6: Cut each roll into 4 pieces.

  • Step 7: Working one roll at a time, pinch pastry together at one end to seal and using scissors snip pastry at the other end.

  • Step 8: Using a skewer, make 2 holes at top and insert pieces of capsicum for the eyes (you could use different colour capsicum and even give them two different coloured eyes.

  • Step 9: Repeat with other portions of mince and pastry sheets.

  • Step 10: Transfer to trays and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.

  • Step 11: Serve to tomato or chilli sauce - the blood component.
