  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 24 cubes of sugar
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 orange (rind, grated)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  • Step 2: Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt, then cut in shortening with a pastry blender.

  • Step 3: Add enough milk to make a soft dough.

  • Step 4: Roll out and cut into 1/2-inch-thick round biscuits.

  • Step 5: Place on greased baking sheet close together.

  • Step 6: Dip sugar cubes one at a time into orange juice and press into biscuit, do it fast they melt quick.

  • Step 7: Sprinkle orange rind over biscuits and bake for about 15 minutes.
