  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons oil (canola oil)
  • FILLING
  • 1 3/4 pounds pears (Anjou pears, ripe but firm, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces, about 3 pears)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (pure)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons crystallized ginger, minced

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly Coat an 8x8-inch baking dish with non stick cooking spray.

  • Step 2: To prepare topping: Combine oats, walnuts, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Drizzle with oil

  • Step 3: And stir until evenly moist.

  • Step 4: To prepare filling: Combine pears, maple syrup, dried cranberries, flour, lemon juice and ginger in a large bowl and mix well.

  • Step 5: Transfer the mixture to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the pears.

  • Step 6: Bake the crumble until the pears are tender and the topping is golden, 45 to 50 minutes. Let stand for at least 10 minutes before serving.

  • Step 7: Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of vanilla yogurt.
