Step 1: Melt butter in saute pan.
Step 2: Add onions and sugar.
Step 3: Cook for 5 to 8 minutes until onions are caramelized.
Step 4: Add red wine, white vinegar, bay leaf, thyme, grenadine and salt and pepper.
Step 5: Simmer until liquid is gone.
Step 6: Serve chilled.
