  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cloves
  • 2/3 cup citron, chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup fruit juice
  • FROSTING
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Simmer the sugar and honey in a double boiler until melted; cool.

  • Step 2: Add the rest of ingredients except frosting.

  • Step 3: Mix.

  • Step 4: Spread in a thin sheet (, knead on a table to form a soft dough.

  • Step 5: While the dough is still warm, roll it out on the back of two greased baking sheets approximately 5 mm (0.2 inches) thick.

  • Step 6: Let it rest for about 5 to 6 hours or over night in a dry place.

  • Step 7: Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes in the center of the pre-heated oven at 220 °C (430 °F)and bake until done.)

  • Step 8: Frost with thin frosting made of lemon and powdered sugar as soon as cookies are baked.
