Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5.9 ounces dry buckwheat groats (1 cup dry kasha, coarse grain,some say fine)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 package (16 ounce) bow tie pasta (cooked)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In small bowl mix kasha with beaten egg, set aside.

  • Step 2: In skillet brown onions and mushrooms in oil.

  • Step 3: Add kasha and cook, separating grains until slightly toasted.

  • Step 4: Add broth, salt& pepper, bring to boil, cover and simmer until broth is absorbed, about 12 minutes.

  • Step 5: Mix in cooked bowties, season with additional salt& pepper.
