  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • CASSEROLE
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 pound beef hot dogs
  • 1 pound sauerkraut (drained)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix all ingredients for casserole, cover.

  • Step 2: Bake for 30 minutes at 425 degrees.

  • Step 3: Meanwhile in bowl, sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening.

  • Step 4: Add seeds; mix.

  • Step 5: Add wet ingredients, then knead lightly

  • Step 6: Pat out to 1/2 inch thick, then cut biscuits.

  • Step 7: Place on greased baking sheet.

  • Step 8: The last 12 minutes put in oven, they placed biscuits on top of casserole ,but I hate soggy bottom biscuits, so do what you want.
