Step 1: Brown meat in butter in 6-quart saucepan.
Step 2: Add onions, garlic, carrots, celery and green pepper.
Step 3: Simmer 10 minutes with the pan covered.
Step 4: Add beef broth or water with bouillon cubes.
Step 5: Add chopped tomato and pepper.
Step 6: Simmer soup on low heat for 35 minutes.
Step 7: Add hominy.
Step 8: Boil hamburger soup for 10 minutes more.
Step 9: Makes 4 quarts
