  • The following recipe serves 12-24 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup beer (light beer, no dark ales or stouts)
  • 1 small garlic clove, grated
  • 1 small shallot, grated
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce (to taste)
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (go easy; and, to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (more to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sauce ... Simply add everything except the butter to a pot; and, bring to a light boil. Then, immediately reduce to a simmer. One note ... start out with the the least amounts of mustard, hot sauce and liquid smoke; because, as it cooks, you can always add more if needed.

  • Step 2: Cook ... Simmer a good 30 minutes, taste; and, adjust if needed. Add the butter; then, simmer another 10 minutes.

  • Step 3: Cool off the heat. Then, transfer to a mason jar, tupperware container, or anything you have. Cover and refrigerate, and let is rest overnight if possible; or, at least a few hours.

  • Step 4: ENJOY! ... I find that this is best on chicken and pork.
