Step 1: In large bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
Step 2: Beat in the egg and molasses
Step 3: Combine in seperate bowl: flour, baking soda, xantham gum, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture.
Step 4: Roll teaspoonfuls of dough into balls. Dip one side of each ball into sugar. place sugar side up on greased baking sheet.
Step 5: Bake 350 10-15 minutes
