  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 1 1/2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (divided)
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1 (8 ounce) yellow onion (thinly sliced into rings and halved)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • Step 2: Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a medium skillet.

  • Step 3: Add chopped onion and saute until tender, 5-6 minutes.

  • Step 4: Combine milk and egg.

  • Step 5: Add biscuit mix and stir until just moistened.

  • Step 6: Stir in onions, 1/2 cup cheese, and 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds.

  • Step 7: Spread in a greased 8" round pan.

  • Step 8: Sprinkle remaining cheese and poppy seeds on top.

  • Step 9: Melt 2 teaspoons butter in the same skillet.

  • Step 10: Add sliced onion and saute until wilted, 3-4 minutes.

  • Step 11: Arrange sliced onion over top of dough.

  • Step 12: Melt remaining butter and drizzle over top.

  • Step 13: Bake 20 minutes.

  • Step 14: Cut into 8 wedges and serve warm.
