  • 1 (12 ounce) yellow onion, sliced (1 large onion, or chopped fine)
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon paprika (Hungarian)
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 quart water (boiling, or stock)
  • Salt
  • 1 can (6 ounce) tomato paste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Roll meat in flour, pressing it in.

  • Step 2: Melt fat in a skillet.

  • Step 3: Add onion and garlic.

  • Step 4: Cook until browned, about 10 minutes.

  • Step 5: Add venison and brown well.

  • Step 6: Add all remaining ingredients.

  • Step 7: Stir well, cover, and simmer gently until meat is tender, 2-3 hours, adding more liquid if necessary.
