Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 slices wholemeal (8 ounces) bread
  • 20 grams butter
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons Vegemite
  • 1 cup tasty cheese, grated
  • 4 large eggs

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cut a 5cm round hole from the centre of each slice of bread using a biscuit or scone cutter and reserve for another use such as breadcrumbs.

  • Step 2: Spread one side of each slice with butter and Vegemite, then place buttered side up on a paper lined baking tray.

  • Step 3: Sprinkle ¾ cup of the cheese over the bread then top each with another slice of bread. Crack an egg into each hole. Sprinkle over remaining cheese.

  • Step 4: Bake in a hot oven 200°C for 15-20 minutes or until egg is cooked and cheese is golden.

  • Step 5: Serve immediately.
