  • 5 slices (5 ounces) bacon
  • 2 cups barley flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 475°.

  • Step 2: Saute bacon until crisp.

  • Step 3: Drain, reserving fat.

  • Step 4: Crumble bacon.

  • Step 5: Combine flour with salt in a mixing bowl.

  • Step 6: Add milk, bacon and all the bacon fat except 1 tablespoon.

  • Step 7: Grease a 10" cake pan with the bacon fat.

  • Step 8: Pour well-blended batter into pan.

  • Step 9: Bake for about 20 minutes, or until top is light brown and cake tester comes out clean.

  • Step 10: Cool slightly before removing from pan.
