The ingredients are:
  • 24 whole fresh peeled (4 1/2 pounds) tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) yellow onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Puree the tomatoes in a food processor until smooth, approximately 1 minute.

  • Step 2: In a large saucepan, saute the onion in the olive oil until the onions are translucent

  • Step 3: And garlic.

  • Step 4: Add the tomato puree, salt, pepper, bay leaf, basil, and oregano and mix together.

  • Step 5: Lower the heat and simmer 1 hour until the sauce is reduced by half and becomes a thicker paste.
