Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup italian flavor breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasonings
  • 2 or 3 fresh leaves basil (finely chopped)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce (herb flavor)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
  • Parsley or basil for garnish

How to Make

  • Step 1: To make the meat mixture combine the first 7 ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

  • Step 2: Combine the tomato sauce, beef broth and sugar in a bowl, whisk to mix.

  • Step 3: With the meat mixture make 4 balls. Roll each meatball in the rice and slightly flatten them so they could cook in the allotted time evenly. Place meatballs in a small casserole dish. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and cover dish.

  • Step 4: Bake in a preheated oven of 375 for 35 to 45 minutes. Sprinkle with some chopped parsley or basil if using.
