Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 purple Italian (7 ounces) plums (stones removed, cut into wedges, enough to cover top)
  • 1/2 cup granulate sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix well butter and 1/2 cup sugar.

  • Step 2: Add eggs. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and almond extract. Add to above mixture.

  • Step 3: Butter 9 x 9 inch pan.

  • Step 4: Press plum wedges into top of batter that has been spread in pan.

  • Step 5: Sprinkle topping over plums. Squeeze a little lemon juice over plums if you have it.

  • Step 6: Bake 375°F. for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake tests done. ( mine was done at 20 minutes )
