Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 head shredded (1 pound) cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 3.2 ounces dry bread crumbs (1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 3 shredded (9 ounces) carrots

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the cabbage and carrots in boiling water for 5 minutes; drain; put back in the pot and then add the butter, syrup, salt and thyme.

  • Step 2: In a separate bowl mix together the ground beef (or turkey), bread crumbs, milk and eggs.

  • Step 3: Butter a large casserole (3 quarts) and layer the cabbage and meat mixture in it, beginning and ending with the cabbage.

  • Step 4: Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 - 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is done.
