Step 1: Preheat oven to 450F.
Step 2: Heat butter and oil in a small saucepan over medium heat and add the garlic and parsley and cook stirring occasionally, until butter is completely melted.
Step 3: Slice bread in half lengthwise, then place on a baking sheet and brush cut sides with butter mixture.
Step 4: Slice crosswise into 1" thick, without cutting all the way through, season with salt and top with parmesan.
Step 5: Bake until golden, about 10 to 15 minutes.
