  • 1 1/4 cups barbecue sauce (purchased)
  • 3/4 cup beer (dark beer)
  • 1/4 cup molasses (mild-flavored light)
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoons minced chipotle chilies (canned, 4 to 6)
  • 6 cans (15 to 16 ounce) Great northern beans (drained)
  • Chopped fresh parsley

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F.

  • Step 2: Cook bacon in large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Transfer to paper towels and drain.

  • Step 3: Transfer 2 1/2 tablespoons bacon drippings from skillet to large bowl.

  • Step 4: Finely chop bacon; add to bowl.

  • Step 5: Add onion and next 7 ingredients to bowl and whisk to blend.

  • Step 6: Whisk in 4 to 6 teaspoons chipotle chilies, depending on spiciness desired.

  • Step 7: Stir in beans.

  • Step 8: Transfer bean mixture to 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish.

  • Step 9: Bake uncovered until liquid bubbles and thickens slightly, about 1 hour.

  • Step 10: Cool 10 minutes.

  • Step 11: Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
