Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • DOUGH
  • 3/4 cup water (176 g - room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (14 g, I like olive oil)
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (284 g)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (18 g)
  • 1 teaspoon table salt (6 g)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast (4 g)
  • TOPPINGS FOR PEPPERONI & ITALIAN SAUSAGE PIZZA
  • 18 ounces plum tomatoes (crushed, Well drain liquid from 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes with a strainer)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 to 10 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (we like Kraft)
  • 102 grams cherry tomatoes (6 tomatoes, halved - optional)
  • 2 1/2 ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 3 ounces Italian sausage (out of casings, mild)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • FOR THE DOUGH

  • Step 1: Add ingredients in the order given in a bread machine and use the dough cycle or --

  • Step 2: Mix in a large bowl until all ingredients are wetted, cover and let rest 10 minutes.

  • Step 3: Knead for 5 minutes by hand using a minimum of flour and place in a straight sided container that has been oiled and cover.

  • Step 4: After 20 minutes, tip dough onto a lightly oiled counter and stretch into a rectangle. Fold the top down and the bottom up letter-style and do the same side to side. Replace into the container and cover.

  • Step 5: After the dough has risen to twice it's volume, tip the dough onto a lightly floured counter and divide into 2 pieces forming each into a ball. Cover with oiled plastic and let rest 5 minutes.

  • FOR THE PIZZAS

  • Step 6: Stretch each dough ball into a 10" disk. If the dough shrinks after stretching, wait 5 minutes and stretch some more.

  • Step 7: Move each dough piece to parchment paper.

  • Step 8: Preheat oven (preferably with a pizza stone) to 500°F and let dough rise for 15 minutes.

  • Step 9: Cover dough with toppings and let rise for 15 more minutes.

  • Step 10: Bake each pizza separately for 4 minutes. Turn the pizza for even cooking and bake until the dough is browned some, and the cheese is bubbly (about 2 more minutes).
