The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 cups dried beans (Northern beans, soaked overnight
  • 3 cups chicken broth (you might need about 1/2 more)
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
  • 8 ounces smoked sausage (sliced thin)
  • 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

How to Make

  • Step 1: After draining and rinsing beans from overnight soak,place into crockpot.

  • Step 2: In a medium skillet over medium heat add oil and heat until hot but not smoking,cook sausage and onion until sausage is browned and onion is soft.

  • Step 3: Add meat/onions over beans,cover with chicken broth.

  • Step 4: Then add seasonings, stirring well to combine.

  • Step 5: After cooking for 3 hours check to see if more broth is needed.

  • Step 6: Cook on low for another 3 hours or until beans are tender.
