Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 bacon slices (cooked slightly crisp and crumbled)
  • 1/8 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 cup shortening
  • 3 ounces milk

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven top 400 degrees.

  • Step 2: Double sift together all dry ingredients(double sifting is most important)

  • Step 3: Cut shortening into dry ingredients,until it looks like crumbly cornbread or small peas.

  • Step 4: Add milk just until a dough ball is formed(you might have to add a bit more flour or milk to get the right texture.

  • Step 5: Then mix in bacon and cheese,being careful not to over work dough.

  • Step 6: On a floured counter or board,knead for about 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Step 7: Pat dough to a 1/3 inch thickness and cut 4 biscuits with a floured biscuit cutter.

  • Step 8: Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet(I used greased parchment paper for easier clean up.)and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
