  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 package (8 ounce) cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • WAFFLES
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate (melted)
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ounce semi-sweet baking chocolate (grated)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a small bowl, dissolve coffee in milk.

  • Step 2: In medium bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.

  • Step 3: Heat waffle iron, brush with oil if necessary.

  • Step 4: In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, oil and unsweetened chocolate with wire whisk until smooth. Beat in milk, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt just until smooth.

  • Step 5: Pour about 1/2 cup batter onto waffle iron, close lid and bake about 4 minutes or until steaming stops.

  • Step 6: Carefully remove waffle; repeat with remaining batter.

  • Step 7: To serve, spoon one heaping tablespoon topping and one teaspoon of grated chocolate onto each waffle.
