Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 16 ounces smoked sausage (fully cooked links and cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 1 (12 ounce) potato (peeled and diced)
  • 1 yellow onion (chopped)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons rosemary, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups green split peas (rinsed)
  • 4 cups chicken broth

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large pot over medium high heat saute the sausages (5 minutes or so).

  • Step 2: Stir in potato, onion and rosemary and continue cooking, stirring another 5 minutes or until onion is soft.

  • Step 3: Stir in peas and the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer until peas are tender (50-60 minutes), stirring occasionally.

  • Step 4: If desired soup can be thinned with water.

  • Step 5: Season to taste with salt and pepper.
