  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 can (7 ounce) cooked tuna (1 1/4 cups)
  • 1/2 cup finely diced celery
  • 1 teaspoon grated yellow onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 6 tablespoons condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • SAUCE
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 7/8 cup condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup grated American cheese

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Step 2: Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Blend in shortening. When mixture looks like coarse corn meal, add milk.

  • Step 3: Turn onto floured board.

  • Step 4: Roll out into a sheet 8 inches square.

  • Step 5: Mix tuna, celery, onion, parsley, and 6 tablespoons cream of mushroom soup together. Cover dough.

  • Step 6: Roll up like a jelly roll.

  • Step 7: Cut into 8 slices. Place slices close together on a greased baking sheet, cut side down.

  • Step 8: Bake 30 minutes or until brown.

  • Step 9: Meanwhile, for the sauce, heat milk and rest of can of cream of mushroom soup.

  • Step 10: Stir in cheese and cook until bubbly, stirring constantly.

  • Step 11: Serve sauce over pinwheels.
