Step 1: In a saucepan over medium high heat bring 1 1/2 cups creams and the remaining ingredients to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves and butter melts. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until mixture is thick, stirring often (30-40 minutes).
Step 2: Remove from heat. Whisk in remaining 1 cup cream and then strain into a microwavable bowl.
