The ingredients are:
  • 4 ounces whole wheat bread (4 slices, reduced-calorie)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (whole-grain)
  • 3/4 ounce cheddar cheese (4 slices, fat-free)
  • 1 (6 ounce) Granny Smith apple (cored and sliced)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat panini maker according to manufacters directions or heat a ridged pan over medium high heat.

  • Step 2: Lay bread on a work surface and brush one side of each slice with olive oil; turn bread over and spread two slices with mustard and layer evenly with apple and cheese slices. Cover with remaining bread; oiled sides out.

  • Step 3: Place sandwiches on panini press or pan.

  • Step 4: Cook until bread is toasted and cheese is softened. If using pan, flip sandwiches to cook other side (about 3-5 minutes per side) or about 4-5 minutes total in the press.

  • Step 5: Cut sandwiches in half.
