Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR FILLING
  • 3 medium (450 grams) apples
  • 3 medium (690 grams) pears
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • FOR CRUMBLE TOPPING
  • 60 grams almond meal (1/2 cup)
  • 1/3 cup rice flour (65 grams)
  • 75 grams brown sugar (firmly packed, 1/3 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 60 grams butter (chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced.

  • Step 2: Grease a deep 1.5 litre (6 cups) ovenproof dish.

  • Step 3: Peel, core and quarter apples and pears; slice fruit thickly.

  • Step 4: Combine fruit, sugar and the water in a large saucepan and cook covered for about 10 minutes or until fruit is just tender.

  • Step 5: Drain and discard liquid.

  • Step 6: While the fruit is cooking make the crumble topping by mixing all the dry ingredients well together and then fold in chopped butter.

  • Step 7: Place apples and pears into prepared ovenproof dish and sprinkle with the crumble topping.

  • Step 8: Bake in pre-heated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes.
