Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 12 raw chicken tenderloins
  • Vegetable oil (or shortening, for frying 6 cups vegetable oil)
  • HONEY-CHIPOTLE SAUCE
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons ground chipotle chile pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • BATTER
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • BREADING
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

How to Make

  • HONEY-CHIPOTLE SAUCE

  • Step 1: To prepare the Honey-Chipotle Sauce mix the honey, water, ketchup, vinegar, chili pepper and salt and then put into a pan and bring to a boil then immediately reduce heat for a couple of minutes then put aside.

  • Step 2: If using a Dutch Oven preheat to 350 degrees and add shortening or oil. You can do the same if you are using a fryer.

  • BATTER

  • Step 3: To prepare the batter mix the egg, milk, chicken broth, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder and when all mixed add the flour.

  • BREADING

  • Step 4: Mix the flour, salt, paprika, pepper and garlic powder together.

  • Step 5: Dip the chicken into the batter, coat with the breading, and then when all pieces are done, place into the fryer or oven for about 5 minutes – make sure to take out sooner if it appears it will burn.

  • Step 6: I like to place the cooked chicken on paper towel to drain the excess oil – not needed if in the Dutch Oven.

  • Step 7: In a large bowl, place the chicken then pour over the sauce and serve with your favorite sides!
