Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • DUMPLING
  • 2 1/4 pounds apples (peeled and cored, 6 medium apples)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Pie crust (recipe #15751 is the original one)
  • SAUCE
  • 2 cups brown sugar (sauce)
  • 2 cups water (sauce)
  • 1/4 cup butter (sauce)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (sauce, or nutmeg)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Dumplings: Peel and core apples - leave whole.

  • Step 2: Make pie crust (Recipe #15751), or use you're favorite.

  • Step 3: Wrap apples in pie crust and put in 13x9x2 pan.

  • Step 4: Sauce: in pan bring sugar, water and spices to boil for 5 minutes. Add butter. Pour over apples.

  • Step 5: Bake 375 for 35 - 40 minutes.

  • Step 6: Baste occasionally while baking.
