Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (self-rising flour, wholemeal)
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecan nuts
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 2 apples (peeled, cored and chopped)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius.

  • Step 2: Lightly grease and line a 20cm cake tin and line with baking paper.

  • Step 3: In a bowl combine the flour, oats, bicarbonate of soda, allspice, sugar and pecans.

  • Step 4: Make a well in the centre and then add the oil and egg and then the apples and combine all ingredients well together.

  • Step 5: Pour mix into the prepared tin and cook for 35 minutes until golden brown, test by inserting a skewer and it should come out clean.
